Skin Preparation in Prevention of Surgical Site Infection in Paediatric Abdominal Surgeries at The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Nigeria.

Purpose: Many studies on preoperative antiseptic agents are inconclusive. This study attempts to find the more effective combination agent in pediatric surgical patients.
 Methodology: was a prospective randomized paediatric patients. Preoperative skin preparation for each group done with assigned combination. Patients were followed up 14th,21st and 30th postoperative days. The primary outcome measures incidence of SSI both groups, Secondary prevalent flora patients SSI. data from folders collected collated. A ninety-five percent confidence interval p-value less than 0.05 considered significant. Continuous variables presented means standard deviation. Results tables.
 Findings: rate chlorhexidine–alcohol 6.9% that povidone–iodine/alcohol 9.7%. odds ratio 0.71 favour chlorhexidine/alcohol group, but result not statistically significant(p=0.228) Organisms isolated mostly monomicrobial, Escherichia coli accounting 50% cases.
 Unique Contributions Theory, Policy Practice: found who received as had lower those povidone-iodine/alcohol; however, this Earlier initially stated povidone-iodine/alcohol better.
